ShelfCount
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
ShelfCount (“the app”) helps merchants perform inventory stock takes and
cycle counts on Shopify POS.
What we collect and store
- Shop identity — your myshopify domain and an API access token, required to operate.
- Catalog metadata — product titles, variant titles, SKUs, barcodes and
inventory quantities for items included in your count sessions.
- Count data you create — sessions, counted quantities, device names of
counting staff, and an audit log of inventory adjustments the app applied at your request.
What we do NOT collect
- No customer personal data. The app never reads, stores or processes your
customers’ names, emails, addresses, orders or any other customer information.
- No payment or financial data. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify.
How data is used
Count data is used solely to provide the app’s functionality (counting, variance review,
inventory sync, CSV export). It is never sold, shared, or used for analytics beyond app operation.
Data retention & deletion
- Uninstalling the app revokes its access token immediately.
- On receipt of Shopify’s
shop/redact webhook (48h after uninstall), all
stored data for the shop — sessions, count lines and audit logs — is permanently deleted.
- You may request earlier deletion at any time via the support email below.
Compliance webhooks
The app implements Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks
(customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact).
As no customer data is stored, customer requests are acknowledged with no data to return or erase.
Security
Data is stored in a database restricted to the app’s backend. Requests from POS devices are
authenticated with Shopify-signed session tokens.
